Virginia Beach makes an Impact: Energy being generated at Virginia Beach

Far off of the sandy shores of Virginia Beach, into the deep blue ocean, two Commercial Offshore Wind Energy projects are taking places. This means that into the ocean are 2 wind turbines which use the wind in the air to generate energy to use to power homes along the coast of Virginia Beach. By late 2026, they plan on completing one of the biggest wind energy installation projects. This will mean that there will be a total of 176 wind turbines in the ocean providing 2.6 gigawatts of electricity. This is enough to power at least 650,000 homes.

      Unlike the recycling and trash bin, the compost bin is for food waste. Any food leftovers or fruit peels can go in this bin. The Compost bin allows us to use our food. Not exactly recycle, but use it in a way that allows it to be helpful and beneficial. These food 'scraps' can come handy in gardening and planting. The food scraps and waste contain a large amount of water and beneficial nutrients which can help with preventing/reducing runoff and erosion, establishing a vegetation and healthy soil which can support a plant. Even though many of us are not aware of the compost bin, it is important that we use it as it is beneficial in several ways other than it is another bin to dispose of something in.   Credit: Green Matters Credit: iStock
