What is Recycling?
Look around your house or wherever you are, do you see anything old that you could make new. I see several different things everyday around my house that are old, but I could make new ones. All of that making new out of old is Recycling. Recycling is the making of new materials using the old. For example, after I finished drinking water from my plastic disposable water bottle, I recycled it and now manufacturers and factories can make another plastic water bottle using mine. You can recycle paper, glass and plastic. Soda cans, plastic milk cartons and newspapers are examples of items made by recyclable material. You might be wondering, how do all those items get recycled? Soda cans and plastic bottles are shredded or broken down and melted. Then people shape them into soda cans and plastic bottles again! . By recycling , we are reducing the amount of waste that is being sent to landfills, conserving natural resources, preventing/ reducing pollution and conserving energy. It is super easy to recycle and you can do it too. So, next time when you are putting something in the trash just be careful and think about it, “can I recycle this?” and if you can put it in the recycling instead, go ahead and do so.
